A story about an amnesiac set in a fantasy world where people there bond with a spirit after reaching adulthood and the main character is "spiritless" due to something that happened and has to travel around following clues from belongings and restore their memory and their spirit by reconnecting with the past.
One who has lost their spirit becomes nondescript in appearance and others cannot perceive their body properly so they have to cover themselves entirely to communicate at all or the people they talk to start finding themselves losing their attention to the person and forgetting their interactions entirely. Normally this wouldn't be too difficult to solve as long acquaintances are nearby but the main character woke up in the middle of nowhere and can't even see their own reflection or even feel their body properly.
It's a comfy melancholy story of young "White" learning who they were in their past life and unfolding the tragedy that led to their current situation but things are not as straightforward as they seem as "White" seems to be drawing on memories from two people, a boy magician from the city in the north and a farmer girl from the orchards in the south.
The twist is that it's the boy in the girl's body.
All the girl's memory of him portray him as this noble magician decades wise beyond his years that took in a bumpkin girl like her as an assistant but the truth is that he left his city in exile because of his experiments with spirits went too far. They journeyed together as he experimented on the both of them so he could command multiple spirits instead of just his own and succeeded to some extent but they got caught up in a bind that fatally wounded his body. He didn't actually want to transfer his soul into his own body but the girl's love for him forced the connection to do it but it left them in a fragile mental and spiritual state that eventually splintered her soul apart after some time passed. In the end, it's a journey of redemption for White and coming to terms that he can't take back the actions and tragedy he caused and how he has to decide how he'll live with it.
