A young aspiring mangaka who's never been in love strikes gold when he adapts his best friend's love story into a oneshot. He is given a chance at making a monthly series so he decides to turn it into a story about an everyman who is compelled by a cupid only he can see to assist in seeing to it that the seeds of love fruit in troubled budding couples.
He starts off decently enough at first but by the end of the first volume he is desperate for ideas to make solid love stories out of. In a twist of fate however, his editor is promoted to chief and has to pass off the guy to another editor. The editor in question happens to be a cute young rookie herself and they put her in charge of him with the new chief supervising for her probationary period.
This motivates him at first but friction soon forms between them when they discover the other is not as ideal as they were made out to be. They also learn of the vastly different ideas of love they have and staunchly defend against the other's arguments despite their mutual lack of experience with it.
With their careers on the line, they brilliantly decide one night while brainstorming ideas to try their hand at being cupids themselves when the editor's friend comes bawling to her about her recent break-up. It's a messy but quick endeavor and the author once again strikes inspiration gold solving their looming crisis when the reception for the newest chapter is nothing short of fantastic.
Seeing their success, the pair embrace their cupid side hustle to keep the idea train going and celebrate with a night of a drinking. They hop from one bar to the next all night expecting to find themselves at home in a painful stupor at their own homes in the morning but what greeted them instead was a slow, awkward realization - the bed they shared was not their own.
